The Great Minnesota Read Together
Thousands of Minnesotans celebrated The Great Minnesota Read Together at the Minnesota State Fair, September 1, 2010. Activities for all ages were scheduled throughout the day. The stroller set enjoyed the Sing, Play, Learn with MacPhail sing-along and families received free CDs. Author/illustrator Debra Frasier presented a story time of her new book A Fabulous Fair Alphabet.
Kids also tested their knowledge at the Trivia Wheel, created a Story-on-a-Stick, explored specimens from the Science Museum of Minnesota and adorned themselves with temporary tattoos. Adults stood in line to meet authors Marjorie Johnson, Doug Ohman, Ellen Hart, Carl Brookins, and William Kent Krueger and receive signed copies of their many books. The entertainment stage featured a magician, Radio Disney dancers, and the hits of the ‘40s presented by Prudence Johnson and Dan Chouinard. Many of these activities were supported by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
