Art of Aging Exhibit
Hennepin County Library and the Minnesota Creative Arts and Aging Network (MnCAAN) present "The Art of Aging," a free art exhibit and arts programs. The exhibit will run from June 10 through August 31 in the Cargill Hall at Minneapolis Central Library.
Four artists—ages 65 to 80—engage in a visual discourse about the enigmatic, disquieting experience of growing old—capturing in images what cannot be said in the language of words. Working in different media, they explore parallel themes: the indignity of aging bodies, the confrontation with mortality, the rush of time, the loss of identity, and the sense of being unseen and on-the-shelf. With paintings, drawings, sculpture, glass, and photographic images, they convey humor and whimsy, pathos and poignancy. Their artworks reveal their intricate and disparate emotions: indignation, sorrow, vitality, defiance, resignation, desire…
