Library Events

You have before you the directory to hundreds of free programs, classes, and events taking place at the more than 100 public libraries in the Twin Cities metro area. However, unless you really want to peruse several hundred possibilities, we suggest following the basic search tips below to refine your search to, say, dozens of great options at a time. (And if you really want to see only a few, you can refine your search down to that level. We just hate for you to miss anything! Did we mention these are, with very few exceptions, FREE?)

Start with the calendar option. The calendar defaults to programs, classes, and events happening in the next 24 hours. This is a great starting point if you’d like to head over to a library very soon—and why wouldn’t you—but in addition to selecting an individual date on the calendar, you can also set a date range to get more listings (don't forget to check the date range box).

Next, unless you have a car that gets excellent mileage and want to drive from Stillwater to St. Bonifacius, you will want to narrow down the locations. Remember that this calendar compiles offerings from the more than 100 public libraries in the seven-county metro, so you have lots of library branches to choose from, and you can select them one at a time by branch, by library system, or in any combination.

You may refine your search even further by selecting from the types of event categories listed. For example, you may be interested in Storytimes. Or book sales. Or computer classes. Or author talks. And you can zero in on those options and others. But when you have a few minutes, we encourage you to browse broadly among the categories. You never know what might pique your interest.

You also have the option of refining your search by age group. Those options pretty much speak for themselves and are a good way to find out about programs designed for library users in general age ranges.

More Features

We hope you will bookmark this amazing calendar and refer to it often, but you may also want to set up an RSS feed to receive notices about programs, events, or classes of particular interest to you. You can do that from any search results page. For example, if you want to receive notice of upcoming author events for adults in a particular county, set up an RSS feed from that page.
