It’s time to Palooza! This annual workshop has awesomeness for storytime presenters of all levels.
Telling Stories: Learn storytelling strategies for the pre-K set, including methods for storytellers to animate tales with simple theatrical tools, as well as techniques that allow young learners to put stories (and learning) into their own bodies. Our presenter is Aaron Fiskradatz, the education director at the Lakeshore Players Theatre. Aaron has devoted a great deal of his career to storytelling, both in the classroom and onstage. Lake. A recent storytelling visits to a public library storytime earned rave librarian reviews such as, “He was phenomenal!” and "How can I learn to do that?!?" Aaron has conducted workshops in oral storytelling for teachers and much of what he does fits right in with public library early literacy best practices.
Storytime Genies: Do you have a storytime question/ quandary / idea you need advice on? Pose it to the Storytime Genies and your wish for an insightful answer will be granted. There will be a drop box for questions at the Palooza or email them in advance to Storytime Genies. This year Storytime Genies will also consider what they wish they’d known before they started doing storytimes, and will share their own storytime plans.
Storytime Open Mic: Storytime presenters from around the region will share their best storytime magic. It could be anything: rhymes, songs, apps, new ways to use a book or tell a story, tips for integrating the 5 early literacy activities or STEM activities, etc. There are three ways to spotlight your storytime insights:
- Sign up in advance with an email to Storytime Open Mic
- Sign up at the door when you arrive
- Get inspired on the spot & raise your hand
PRIZES: Win cool storytime stuff for your library! (If you have a prize to recommend, email Palooza Prizes)
