Home to an interactive museum with changing exhibits, the Minnesota Historical Society Library, a cafe and two shops with Minnesota-themed gifts, the History Center also offers special events, programs and children's activities. Featured exhibits include Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World, Minnesota's Greatest Generation, and MN 150.

Once a month, I take my grandkids on "Granventures". They are ages 11, 12, 13, and 15. Our 36th outing was to the MN History Center on Saturday, February 20. I got rave reviews. I felt very comfortable letting them explore on their own. There are volunteers everywhere who are very helpful. Their favorite exhibit was MN150 with the trivia contest. We played for an hour. Now they want to go again!! It may get to be one of our favorite places to go. |

I have never been to the "new" center, just the one that used to be located across from the street from the State Capital - what a surprise! We really enjoyed the "Greatest Generation" exhibit - it moved me to tears! As a Generation "X"'er I had no idea how much these men and women went through! The MN 150 exhibit was also very cool. Definitely worth the trip! |

This place is awesome. We went to see the new Ben Franklin exhibit and were surprised to find tons of other stuff as well. This place is great for kids and adults. We even went to space in a rocket while we were there! |

I took my 11 year old daughter and her friend to the Minnesota History Center. We learned a lot about Minnesota’s greatest generation; The children saw a rotary phone for the first time. The old fashioned shop was their favorite. The children had fun learning. |

Much more interesting than anticipated. The exhibits were fascinating and well done. Enjoyed the weather display and transportation display in
particular. But the Walls that could talk and 150
Year displays were awesome too. Well worth the trip and would love to go again. |

My husband and I spent a hot and humid day indoors at the History Center. The Ellis Island exhibit was intriguing. Some of the photos looked like the immigrant was standing right in front of us with the difference in time gone. We also enjoyed the availability of a computer to look up information on members of our family tree. The Minnesota 150 exhibit was nostolgic, educational and fun. We especially enjoyed the music stations where we could listen to Minnesota musicians such as Prince, the Minnesota Orchestra, and Bob Dylan. It was fun to watch other people put the headphones on and smile and dance to the music that only they could hear. It was interesting to watch the wide range in age of the people waiting to hear Bob Dylan. Thanks, sponsors! |

I brought my daughter and her friend. They are both 7 years old, along with them, I learned a lot about the 150 years of Minnesota.

We had a wonderful time. I brought our 9 and 11 year old daughters and went with another family that has 4 children. We spent 5 hours there but that was not enough!!! We loved the Minnesota 150 display and the "game" at the end. We had been there 4 years ago, but the kids got so much more out of this visit. We will definately have to make this an annual event! A friend and I went to the history center for the first time. What a wonderful experience, beautiful building, and great volunteers. We viewed the Declaration of Independence and then proceeded to explore the other areas. As a lifetime resident of Minnesota, it brought back many childhood memories, which I hadn't thought about for many years. It also spurred a desire to visit here more often and cherish our state and its heritage. As a retired person it is greatly appreciated to be able to enjoy quality events; especially free. Thanks to all the sponsors; We are looking forward to our next adventure! |

My Dad recently retired, so we have been spending days together when I'm not in classes. We went to the History Center. I had been there once before about 15 years ago in grade school. It is alot cooler then I remember it being! We got there at 10:30am and all of a sudden it was 6pm! We spent the whole day there without feeling the time. I greatly recomend this place to all families, it triggered great conversation between my Dad and I. |

We visited three exhibits: The Enemy Within, Tales of the Territory and If These Walls Could Talk. All were excellent. We wished we could spend more time at all three. They inspired much conversation and thought. The Enemy Within was particularly insightful. Thank you for the experience. |

I had never been to this museum. My daughter had told me how much she enjoyed it so we decided to go. It was fantastic. I have told everyone about it. I am not much of a history person, but learning some things about Minnesota history was very fun. I didn't realize Minnesota had as much history as it does. From music to tornados. We plan on going back again very soon. |

My wife and I always love going here. The exhibits are fantastic and the building is beautiful with great views of downtown St. Paul. Having lived near there, I loved the Lake Street exhibit. It showed a side I haven't really seen or experienced. It is one of the most colorful neighborhoods in any city. My wife really enjoyed looking at the old advertisements in the Going Places exhibit since she works in advertising. It's amazing how much ads have changed over the years! We have never been disappointed coming to the History Center. It is truly an under appreciated gem. |

I couldn't believe how much fun I had at the history center with my three small kids (ages 1.5, 3, 5)! I let them pick where they want to go from the Museum Adventure Pass booklet, and when they picked this, I thought they'd be really bored. We'd never been there before and we were AMAZED at how interactive and fun it was! The person at the front desk was very nice too, and gave us all buttons, a brochure for each kid, and a few hints on finding bathrooms, etc. I'm so glad we went, and we wouldn't have gone if it hadn't been for the Adventure Pass. |

Had a great time visiting the Minnesota History Center. Spent the whole night in the Minnesota 150 Exhibit and still didn't see it all! Took the Quiz on Minnesota History and got the highest score of the group! WOW! |

I want to thank the the sponsors for the opportunity to see the History Center yesterday. With student from the Chech Republic and the Museum Adventure pass, I was able to share something special with my friends from abroad.
The house which was profiled was built by a German imigrant family, which spoke to my guests own German culture and interests. The interactive nature of the museum was very fun for all, and allowed my international viistors to keep their interest up by balancing different ways of learning other than the traditional picture, statue and text presentations. (They found the tornado experience a bit scary, but were very happy in the music section.) I too found the interactive presentations a very nice way to experience Minnesota history, without getting too overloaded with information. The little Indian girl hologram was particularly sweet.
We had a lot of fun, and I will definitely keep yjr History Center in mind the next time I have Guests. Thanks again. |

My fiancee and I went to the MN history center it was such a great night! We enjoyed the display about the Prom and other MN artists. It was so much fun we danced in teh 1950s ice cream shop and he recorded his version of funky town. It was something we may not have done had their not been this great opportunity. We look forward to going to other museums and enjoying the great things that MN has to offer! |
