Rugged red sandstone, massive scale, fine detail and ingenious mechanical systems are characteristics of this home built by James J. Hill, founder of the Great Northern Railway. Guides lead tours that help visitors imagine family and servant life in the 36,000-square-foot Gilded Age mansion, which features 42 rooms, 13 bathrooms and 22 fireplaces.
The Museum Adventure Pass may be used for the full house tour. Reservations are recommended.
Passes are limited to general exhibit admission only.

My husband and I spent a great sunday afternoon at the James J. Hill house. It was so interesting an educaitonal. I have never been to the hosue and my husband and not been on the tour in years. We both learned a lot about hte family as well as about st. paul we are excited to read some books about James J. Hill! |
